John C. Gold is one of the few photographers who specialize in Nightscape Photography. Currently, he is 53 years of age and photography gave him a reason to live. Before venturing into this career, John was in the Army for 11 years and he ended up becoming a 100% disabled veteran who suffered from a traumatic brain injury. This was difficult for him, having a grandson and a daughter.
Suffering from traumatic injuries, John for many years became a recluse. One day, he was struggling in a dark place and this left him with two options; committing suicide or finding a reason to live again. At the end of this struggle John was not going to be another statistic, John chose to live and photography was the fresh breath of life which he received.
At age 48, he graduated from the prestigious Ringling College of Art and Design having a Bachelor of Arts Degree in filmmaking. This was a very bold step that most persons wouldn’t have taken in John’s condition. Choosing Nightscape Photography as a niche came from John’s love for the peace and serenity of the night. Nightscape photography wakens him up to the magnificent wonders of the night while individuals all over the world sleep. By taking in all the wonders of the night through his senses; the reflections, the lighting, John’s passion for this kind of photography is fueled.
John’s greatest desire is to bring peace and calm which he experiences at night to people. The aim is to ease people from the stress and anxiety of the day by bringing the tranquility of the night to them in pictures. He has worked diligently and passionately to get to the level where he finds himself presently in his love for photography.
